Extra Long Wall Art: The Ultimate Guide to Decorating Wide Walls

Decorating a wide wall can be challenging. Small paintings may look out of place, while multiple frames can make a room feel cluttered. Extra long wall art offers a simple way to create a balanced, stylish focal point.

Whether you're decorating a living room, bedroom, or dining area, the right horizontal painting can transform an empty wall into a beautiful statement.

1. Why Choose Extra Long Wall Art?

Long horizontal paintings complement wide walls and furniture, creating a more cohesive look. They also introduce color, texture, and personality without overwhelming your space.

Popular options include modern abstract paintings, calming landscapes, minimalist designs, and textured hand-painted artwork.

2. How to Choose the Right Size

A useful guideline is to choose artwork around 60–75% of the width of the furniture beneath it.

For example, a 90-inch sofa can pair well with a painting approximately 54–68 inches wide. For especially wide walls, consider panoramic artwork or custom sizes for a better fit.

Before ordering, measure your wall and furniture to ensure the artwork complements the space.

3. Where and How to Hang Long Wall Art

Extra long wall art works beautifully above sofas, beds, dining tables, and consoles.

For a balanced arrangement:

• Center the painting above your furniture.

• Leave approximately 6–10 inches between the artwork and the furniture below.

• Consider the wall height and surrounding decor.

• Check the artwork's weight and use suitable hanging hardware.

Use painter's tape to mark the painting's dimensions on the wall before drilling.
